Saturday Night Livewill be Black Magic Mask (2023)back on May 8. When it returns, the night's host will be Elon Musk.
Sorry, that's "the CEO and Technoking of Tesla" Elon Musk, according to the SNLannouncement. Musk will be joined by musical guest Miley Cyrus, making her sixthappearance on the show to date. She'll presumably bring along some cuts from her latest album Plastic Hearts. And if we're lucky, we might even get a Miley sketch or two.
Either way, this is quite the combo.

Musk has been in the news in recent days for his work with SpaceX, where he's the company's Chief Engineer. SpaceX just made history on Friday when it sent a group of astronauts off to the International Space Station aboard a reused Crew Dragon capsule. It's the first time a capsule and rocket, the Falcon 9, have been reused for a space mission so it's a pretty big deal.
As for an acting resume, Musk's history is a little thin. He made his big screen debut playing himself in an Iron Man 2cameo. He's also appeared on TV several times — The Simpsons, South Park, Big Bang Theory, Rick and Morty, and Young Sheldon— and he was singled out as an alien in the latest Men in Black movie.
He may be more notorious for the ways he's pissed people off than famous for the work he's done. He's said some truly bonkers things about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic — a stance that may have influenced Tesla's struggles to contain the illness — and he was one of the first people to get on board with Kanye West's ill-advised and seemingly hastily conceived plan to run for president.
Then there was the whole Juneteenth thing. Of all the famous people who should never tweet, Musk sits near the top of the list. He just seems to get himself into trouble.
Maybe SNLwill play with that fact somehow? We'll find out on May 8.
